On non-displays, why don't you output the sorted directory and then
 exit.

Yet another suggestion for Dired, before you leave the software business:
When you get a command, look and see if more than one command has been
entered, and do them all simultaneously. Then a string of <cr>s
will not cause the program to clank down, line by line. It should not
be hard to compose cursor-motion commands, anyway. It may be dangerous
 to compose others.

DRD ought to have a readonly mode, which is entered on foreign directories,
but can be overridden with a switch, (or entered with a switch).

DRD ought to have some form of help which lists the switches it knows about.
Perhaps /HELP would list switches and suggest that you type ? and
? would list commands and suggest that you type /HELP for switchs.

I found i was switch between E and DIRED frequenty to see about as much
of a file as would fit on a screen. Why not offer a command to put up a screen full,
where formfeeds do not terminate page but rather display as something like: ** PAGE 2 **

Thanks for moving the pointer when you window. I have another request
(sorry about that): a command to read and display the first n lines
of a file. I know I can say meta-E but when the system is at all
heavily loaded the dskops to load and initialize E and then DIRED
again take forever. Tnx. (n=the size of the display, not a variable.)
 P.S.--I said αβM↓??? bh↓.ufd[1,1]
and it didn't find any files. Howcum?
P.P.S.--After the above I tried DR/F again and it remembered the [1,1]
 but not the mask.
P↑3.S.--Your PPN reader should accept [PRJ] or [PRJ
to mean that PRJ and the user's alias PRG. (Honest, I'm not trying
to find problems for you on purpose!)
